What we are searching for:
Adult and teen actors to play the parts of beloved Peanuts characters plus additional singers, dancers, improvisers, and actors to sing added songs and perform in added “commercial breaks.” The added songs and acting material will be collaboratively created with performers!
What to Prepare:
1: Please bring a Christmas Carol that you would be interested in performing for the show.
Please bring sheet music for the song (Kelly Jackson will be our accompanist for auditions) or be ready to go with a karaoke track that we can play over a bluetooth speaker.
2: If you are not interested in performing a solo, please familiarize yourself with the song “We Wish you a Merry Christmas” so that we can hear the quality of your voice. We will have sheet music available at the audition.
3: We will have sides available for people wishing to audition for one of the peanuts character. (See character descriptions below)
4: (optional) if you have any ideas for stories to be told, “commercial breaks,” or sketches that you want to submit to the show, please be prepared to share those ideas or email ideas to candice@harttheatre.org
All performance roles are volunteer.
Character Breakdowns
Charlie Brown
Age Range: teen or adult playing an 8 year old
The lovable, optimistic yet often melancholy protagonist. He is kind, thoughtful, and constantly searching for the true meaning of Christmas. While he tends to overthink things, his good heart is at the core of his personality. Strong acting and vocal skills needed.
Snoopy
Age Range: teen or adult playing a dog
Charlie Brown’s imaginative and playful pet dog. Snoopy doesn’t speak but communicates through expressive physicality and sounds, making this a highly physical role requiring excellent comedic timing and body language.
Lucy Van Pelt
Age Range: teen or adult playing an 8 year old
Outspoken, bossy, and full of confidence, Lucy is never afraid to give her opinion. She has big dreams of being a psychiatrist but also a softer side, especially when it comes to her unrequited crush on Schroeder. Requires a bold, comedic actor with strong presence.
Linus Van Pelt
Age Range: teen or adult playing a 5 year old
Lucy’s younger brother, wise beyond his years. Linus is philosophical, kind, and gentle, often providing the heart of the story with his iconic speech about the true meaning of Christmas. Must feel comfortable delivering monologues.
Pig-Pen
Age Range: teen or adult playing an 8 year old
The perpetually dirty but proud kid who somehow always manages to stay surrounded by dust. Pig-Pen is unbothered by his dirt and has a unique confidence. This role requires strong comedic skills.
Frieda
Age Range: teen or adult playing an 8 year old
A girl who is very proud of her “naturally curly red hair.” (natural red hair not required) Frieda is vain but not malicious and loves to talk about herself. Requires someone with strong comedic timing and energy.
Schroeder
Age Range: teen or adult playing an 8 year old
The calm, focused pianist who idolizes Beethoven. Schroeder is talented, reserved, and constantly avoiding Lucy’s romantic advances. Piano skills are a plus, but not required. Strong acting needed to convey his passion for music.
Violet
Age Range: teen or adult playing an 8 year old
One of the girls in the group, Violet is confident, direct, and often a bit sarcastic. She’s less emotional than some of the other characters but still has a fun, quirky personality.
Sally Brown
Age Range: teen or adult playing a 5 year old
Charlie Brown’s little sister. Sally is precocious, innocent, and has a sweet, humorous outlook on life. She adores her big brother and is fixated on getting what she wants for Christmas. Requires a bubbly, energetic actor.
Patty
Age Range: teen or adult playing an 8 year old
A friendly and easy-going girl. Patty is part of the group and adds to the ensemble dynamic. She’s not as outspoken as Lucy or Violet but still contributes with her friendly demeanor.
Shermy
Age Range: teen or adult playing an 8 year old
A more reserved, quieter character who’s part of the friend group. Shermy is good-natured and always ready to join in the fun. A good ensemble role for a young actor who works well in a team.
5-10 Ensemble Members:
Kids, Teens, or Adults
Seeking 5-10 additional actors who will perform solos and duets, dance solos or chorus dances, act in commercial breaks and comedic sketches, or be a part of our elf ensemble or Charlie Brown ensemble. We are looking for people who are passionate about Christmas and making people laugh! Much like last years “My Favorite Christmas” we hope to collaborate with these actors to create special moments that are unique to our community of artists.
