Blumenthal Arts seeks L.E.A.P. Program Classroom Assistants to support instruction and logistics for the L.E.A.P. in-school residency program serving local Title I schools. Classroom Assistants work alongside Teaching Artists to facilitate curriculum, manage classrooms, prepare materials, and document program outcomes, all while fostering a positive and engaging learning environment. This is a temporary, part-time, contracted position estimated at 12 hours per week for 25 weeks, running September through March in alignment with the CMS calendar. Weekday daytime availability is required, and Classroom Assistants must be able to commit to the full program run.

Your impact: 

Program Classroom Assistance 

  • Assist the lead Teaching Artist for all Blumenthal L.E.A.P. classes with regard to curriculum facilitation, classroom management, discipline, and individualized instruction. 
  • Prepare materials and supplies as directed by the Teaching Artist and collaborate with School Impact Manager to coordinate purchasing and distribution.  
  • Support facilitation of provided curriculum and meet all program deadlines for projects within. 
  • Assist in program analysis providing constructive and proactive feedback for program adjustments and improvements.  
  • Assemble and organize all student materials for the final product of the program, a book featuring an individual story and piece of artwork from the participating students.  
  • Participate in the culminating event “LEAP Day” which takes place at Knight Theater. 
  • Utilize respectful, positive classroom management with students at all times. 
  • Participate in program trainings and orientations. 
  • As time allows, assists with other program administration as directed by the School Impact Manager. 

Documentation 

  • Collect and maintain program documentation including surveys, feedback, participation statistics, quality photos and videos as well as communicating information to marketing and development. 
  • Ensure accurate and detailed tracking and documentation including providing necessary information for development reports. 
  • Organize field trip permission slips and information within (t-shirt sizes, food allergies, etc).

Skills You’ll Bring: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or theater education
  • At least two years working with youth, such as teaching, coaching, mentoring, etc. 
  • Must be bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Experience teaching or assisting in Title I schools preferred. 
  • Experience with classroom management, discipline, and working with at-risk students a plus. 
  • Proven track record of teaming with staff, volunteers, school contacts, and a diverse group of stakeholders. 
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to plan and manage multiple tasks.  
  • Must have access to reliable transportation.
