AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
This show requires 10+ actors of all race, genders, identity, capability, and/or experience. Roles can be scaled to the age of performers, by all roles are preferred to be cast at least 16+. Limited roles available for anyone under 18, due to content. The casting team is looking for a diverse group of performers across the board. This production is rated PG-13 for violence, some adult content/language.
- Beginning with the 2025-2026 season, ALL auditions will move to 30-minute time slots of ten people or less. Performers are asked to arrive 10 minutes before their time slot.
- Auditions are closed, which means only those auditioning may be in the house. Anyone who is not signed up for the audition in that particular time slot is to remain in the lobby until the audition process is finished, including parents, grandparents, siblings, and/or legal guardians.
- Auditions are appointment only; you must schedule your appointment below to finalize this audition form and secure your spot.
- Mandatory Dates: May 16 (Q2Q), May 17-21 (Tech Week), May 22-31 (Show Dates/Pick Up). Availability throughout the rehearsal process may affect casting.
- Location: 238 S. Clay Street, Gastonia NC, 28052. Parking is adjacent to the building and limited parking on the street. Please do not block cars in.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWNS:
THOMAS ROGERS: Male presenting. The butler Rogers continues to be a proper servant. He always brings the drinks and food on time and is always polite and deferential, even in times of distress. Will be cast 18+. Age range: reads 30+
ETHEL ROGERS: Female presenting. The cook/maid for the house. Ethel is a frail woman, she is frantic and anxious. She is married to Thomas. Will be cast 18+. Age range: reads 30+
FRED NARRACOTT: Male presenting. Caretaker of the island, who ferries the boat to Soldier Island. A working class man with a dry sense of humor. Age range: reads 20+
VERA CLAYTHORNE: Female presenting. Serves as a secretary to Mrs. Owen. Vera is intelligent and capable, but she also suffers from attacks of hysteria and reacts nervously to the uncanny events on the island. Very Practical and careful but also a romantic. Age range: reads 18+
PHILIP LOMBARD: Male presenting. A mysterious, confident, and resourceful man who seems to have been a mercenary soldier in Africa. Lombard is far bolder and more cunning than most of the other characters. Upper class British or cockney dialect preferred but not required. Age range: reads 20+
ANTHONY MARSTON: Male presenting. A rich, athletic, handsome youth. Tony Marston likes to drive recklessly and seems to lack a conscience Age range: reads 18-30
WILLIAM BLORE: Male presenting. A former police inspector. Blore is a well-built man whose experience often inspires others to look to him for advice. He acts boldly and frequently takes initiative, but he also makes frequent blunders. He constantly suspects the wrong person, and his boldness often verges on foolhardiness. Age range: reads 30+
GENERAL MACKENZIE: Male presenting. The oldest guest. A once general in World War I. MacKenzie holds strong devotion and convictions to his wife and decisions that were made during their time together. Age range: reads 40 EMILY BRENT: Female presenting. A ruthlessly religious woman who reads her Bible every day. Unlike the other characters, Emily Brent feels convinced of her own righteousness and also of everyone else’s sinfulness. Age range: reads 30+
DR. EDWARD ARMSTRONG: Male presenting. A gullible, slightly timid but successful doctor. Armstrong often draws the suspicion of the other guests because of his medical knowledge. He has spent his whole life pursuing respectability and public success, and is unable to see beneath people’s exteriors. Age range: reads 30+
LAWRENCE WARGRAVE: Male presenting. Wargrave is highly intelligent with a commanding personality. Wargrave’s experience and air of authority make them a natural leader for the group. A strong sense of justice. Age range: reads 30+
