Matthews Playhouse is thrilled to announce auditions for “Bright Star”, directed by Paula Baldwin. Seeking adults and teenagers (ages 14+) of all abilities, identities, and backgrounds who can sing and dance to join the cast in both leading and ensemble roles.

About the Show
Set in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina during the 1920s and 1940s, this heartwarming musical—featuring a Tony®-nominated score by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell—shares a powerful story of love and redemption.
Audition Requirements
- Please prepare 16 bars of music to sing from a musical (keep in mind the style of the show is bluegrass/folk music). Please bring sheet music (an accompanist will be provided)–no CD accompaniment or a-capella singing
- Please come prepared to move or bring a change of clothes with you. Auditionees will be asked to stay and dance after their vocal audition.
- Cold readings will be part of the callback process
- Please plan to stay longer than your half hour time slot allotted on the sign-up.
All performance roles are volunteer.
