The Green Room Community Theatre seeks a Scenic Designer and Master Carpenter

The Green Room Community Theatre (TGR) seeks a full-time Scenic Designer & Master Carpenter to lead scenic
design and construction for all productions. This role combines creative scenic design with hands-on carpentry and technical leadership in a nonprofit, community-focused theatre.

Job Summary: The Scenic Designer & Master Carpenter serves as the primary scenic and construction lead, working directly with
directors and production teams to translate artistic vision into safe, functional, and visually compelling stage environments. This role works closely with creative teams, production manager, and volunteers to ensure safe and efficient productions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Design scenery supporting the artistic vision of each production
• Create scenic concepts, drawings, and build plans
• Construct, install, modify, maintain, and strike scenic elements
• Build platforms, flats, stairs, and specialty scenic pieces
• Maintain scenic inventory, tools, and shop organization
• Ensure all scenic work meets safety standards
• Integrate scenery with lighting, sound, props, and stage operations
• Collaborate with directors, designers, and production staff
• Supervise and mentor volunteers and crews

Required Qualifications:
• Experience in scenic design and theatrical carpentry
• Strong construction skills and tool proficiency
• Basic understanding of technical theatre systems
• Ability to manage scenic work independently
• Knowledge of theatre safety standards
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Evening and weekend availability
